The Gift of Style

This custom microsite was a partnership between FLARE and Tiffany & Co that ran in 2017. I was the editorial lead, came up with the approved concept, created and approved all copy, acted as a producer during the shoot days with three influencers and managed the social media experience during the flights.

Is Celine Dion Extra or Just Earnest?

Celine Dion is an icon to some and a cheesy cartoon to others

To some, Céline Dion is a newfound source of fashion inspo and #lifegoals thanks to her oversized personality and recent couture connection, including the upcoming launch of her lifestyle collection with Nordstrom and Simons. But is the chanteuse the poster child for being yourself or has pop culture just caught up with her schmaltzy persona?

Life (and Makeup) With Baby

Hi there!

You may have noticed that it’s been a minute since I’ve written something or shared my new beauty obsessions—almost a year in fact. And just what has been keeping me so busy?

My new mom makeup routine includes mascara, lipstick, blush and MAC compact

A slightly different look for my vanity

A new job that began last February and OH YEAH I HAD A BABY! My little monkey is 9 weeks old now and my go-to response to the inevitable but innocuous “So how is motherhood?” line of questioning can be summed up in one word: INTENSE. All the euphoria and anxiety and joy and pains (physical, emotional and psychological) are turned up to 11 and coupled with the least sleep I’ve ever had in my life, it all makes for an adventure that, I’m sure like so many women before me, is impossible to truly be prepared for, anticipate or adequately describe. It’s a trip.

Flower Power: Beauty’s Latest Trend Is an Ode to a Rose

Rose oilThe flower that’s synonymous with Valentine’s Day—and, for better or worse, The Bachelor—is having a moment as a key ingredient and a colour muse. Throughout its long existence, the rose has been separated into its parts and liquefied, made into essential oil and otherwise processed and distilled for a wide array of benefits, from anti-inflammation to anti-aging, hydration and skin repair. But while the rose’s role as a power player on your beauty shelf is nothing new, the ways that some brands are tipping their hats to the hard-working flower is. So it’s worth giving the popular (#basic) bloom a fresh look.
Find out what roses are doing for you lately. Continue reading

Why This 5-Step Nail Treatment System Is Everything

Londontown nail treatment system

This packaging is !!!

Yes genetics, environment, diet and lifestyle all play a part in how the aging process will hit you—gently, like a summer’s breeze or punishing like a tropical storm—but most people who have the time, money and inclination have smartened up with a skincare regimen that does some (okay A LOT) of the work for them.

So why doesn’t the same hold true for nails? A nice mani is one thing but kept-up nails that are clean, smartly filed and healthy-looking have long been a priority to me because if I feel good from the neck up but my nails are an uneven mess, something is off.

I was very eager to get my hands on Londontown’s Nail Treatment System to see for myself and test drive the multi-step system.

Read my full thoughts after the jump.

Applause, Applause: The Best Beauty Products of 2016

Ouai texturizing spray

(Via sephora.com)

I’ve lost count of the numbers of new beauty items I’ve tested and tried over the last year (mostly for work but sometimes for fun)—creams and serums, blushes and bronzers, mascaras, brow pencils and pomades, lipsticks and stains, oil-based everything and a few new brushes and tools to apply said products.

But not every item that starting popping up on shelves as far back as January is worthy of being singled out. The six gems I’ve chosen weren’t even part of my beauty routine Some nine months ago and now I can’t imagine going without them. Cue the applause.

Why Pantone’s Colour of the Year Is More Than Just a Shade of Green

Pantone color of the year

(Image via Pantone.com)

The past 12 months have been a slog, depressing on so many levels, from the political to the personal and extending to the world at large. Minus the personal bright spot that was my wedding in April, I’m as ready as anyone else to put 2016 to bed, into which I would also like to crawl with a good book as the next 19 days pass by.

But the dawn of a new year promises a clean slate, a chance at renewal, rebirth, resetting; an opportunity to take stock and review as opposed to rehashing the same bad vibes. It’s fitting then that Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017 is Greenery, a hint at the environment, at “going green” and a hopeful symbol of moving forward with a fresh perspective.

Clarity right out of the gates: this list is in no way exhaustive, in case the single digit didn’t tip you off, and will include shows that may not have premiered this year but had a great 2016 in terms of storyline, character development or just a really well-executed few episodes that made it a contender amongst this year’s crop of excellent small-screen work.

Feel free to debate/defend in the comments!
